Our environment

We need to be more careful if and when we allow development around our water ways, setbacks need to be substantial.  Allowing natural growth to shade our smaller creeks, leaving no trace when we recreate and protecting our beautiful environment within the public and private realms.

Take the pledge written by the Thomas Haney Eco-Action students and Rain Pierre, an artist from Katzie First Nation:

  • Be a respectful guest when visiting our rivers, dykes, trails, lakes and parks.
  • Share trails and outdoor spaces with all users in a courteous manner
  • Observe wildlife from a safe and considerate distance
  • Appreciate the ecosystems that exist in these spaces and take only photos, leave only footprints
  • Tread lightly on the land as one who has gratefully borrowed it from future generations
